Macaron Porn

Last night, while the rest of the DC metro area was preparing for our freak March snow storm (spoiler alert: it was a total dud) by buying all the water and toilet paper, I decided, if I had to be holed up in my apartment all day, I needed to have macarons. I knew there were two places in Georgetown that made them, and we already were headed there to stop at H&M, so it was perfect.

Paul, which is closest to H&M, was sold out of macarons because someone came in just before us and bought them all up! I guess they had the same idea for emergency preparedness as I did.

We ended up walking just a few blocks up Wisconsin Ave., to Macaron Bee. It’s such a cute little shop, very bright and inviting. We got there around closing time, which is 7pm, and they were noticeably low, and out of most flavors. I was really craving Pistachio flavor, but since they were out, I went for Espresso, Salted Caramel, and Dark Chocolate. My boyfriend got Earl Grey and Milk Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, and Salted Caramel as well.

So far, I’ve had the Espresso (I only like to have one at a time, to savor the flavor more), and I loved it. It wasn’t a heavy, rich flavor, but you could definitely taste the espresso. Christopher tried his Earl Grey/Milk Chocolate one, and wasn’t too thrilled. I had a small bite, and I have to say, I like the Early Grey shell, and I like the Milk Chocolate filling, but together it was meh. I’d love to have a mint filling with the Earl Grey shell, I think that would be perfect, actually.

Anyway, because the weather was pretty crappy early in the morning, the Federal Government decided we needed a snow day (I work for a contractor, so whatever the gov’t does, we do too), I was totally burnt out and today provided that break I was desperately craving. Looking out of my window, Mother Nature is clearly drunk, we’ve got rain, and snow at the same time. While she’s busy going through the motions, I’m just going to bundle up indoors, and enjoy my day off.

xx,

ha I share your love and craving for macarons. PIstachio is one of my favs, along with blackcurrent and salted caramel. I also love yuzu and green tea when I can find them. I’ve actually made them myself before and surprisingly not too tricky with the right prep!

Oh, I MUST find a green tea macaron! That sounds amazing! I definitely want to try making them myself one day, if I can master salted caramel, I may never leave my house again haha
